BattleCast is
Electronic Arts attempt at turning Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars
into a spectator sport. Below are the features you'll have available
with BattleCast.
C&C3 BattleCast Features:
Spectator/Observer
Mode:
You can become a commentator in the game and give a play by play
just like in football games. It's built right into the game.
Commentators get their own VOIP channel (players won't be able to
hear your comments during the game) and even a sportscaster-style
telestrator (aka "the paintbrush from MS Paint") to sketch up
diagrams and strategies. People will be able to watch a LIVE
streaming feed of the game, and hear the play by play comments from
the announcer in the game. Anyone will be able to watch, even those
who don't have the C&C3 game. Those who don't own the game can get a
download (BattleCast Viewer) that will allow them to watch the
games.
Archive Matches:
On the
BATTLECAST WEBSITE you'll be able to download and view
matches already played. If you missed a certain match, you'll be
able to look it up in the archives and watch it. You can search for
player name, game description, match name, or commentator name.
Watching matches is a great way to learn the strategies and tactics
of the better players, and if your planning on playing a particular
player, you can study up on his playing style.
Compete in Online Games:
At the BattleCast website, you'll have the ability to schedule
matches against another player by clicking on that player's name and
the date & time for the match. In other words, it's another way to
challenge a player to a game.
Player Statistics:
The BattleCast website will keep track of all your important game
stats like total matches played, win & loses, favorite faction to
play with, win and losing streaks, average game times, and a whole
host of other statistics that are recorded. And you can look up the
statistics of any player you want to.
Game Ladders:
BattleCast also features game ladders for both 1v1 and 2v2 games.
There's a separate ladder for clans as well. You also have the
ability to look up any player's current rank on the ladders.
BattleCast supports Clans:
You'll be able to create a clan via the BattleCast website, and
invite other players to join your clan.
