CNC: Generals Q n A

On this section you'll find fan submitted questions concerning the Generals game. Everyone is welcomed to submit a question! Ask the Lion whatever ya want about the game...you WILL get an answer. Below is an archive of questions that have been answered to date.

Question: How many jet fighters can you have on a single airfield or can u have unlimited?
Answer: You can build four per airfield.

Question: Are there headlights on vehicles for the night maps?
Answer: Yes, some of the vehicles such as the USA Humvee have headlights. And they look realistic.

Question: Do USA's Humvees have to have troops in them to fire the machine gun/tow missle launcher or is that automatic? And also, when you have troops in a hummer, do all of them fire out gun ports like the battle fortress in Yuri's or do they shoot from one gun?
Answer: No...they fire without the infantry inside. The infantry just make them a lot stronger as far as fire power goes. Infantry all fire out individually. In other words, if you have five rocket soldiers inside the Humvee, you get five rockets coming out. Lots of fire power!

Question: Can Chinook helicopters land on the ground, or do they just hover in the air?
Answer: They cannot land on the ground...just hover.

Question: Can the Chinese Hackers hack UNLIMITED money?
Answer: Yep, they sure can. And the more ya have of them the better. Really helps to keep the cash flowing in.

Question: The Chinese Overlord Tank: After you have upgraded an Overlord to have a bunker on the back, what (type of) units can you put in it?
Answer: Any of the infantry units for China will fit. You can place up to five inside the bunker.

Question: Does attack from bunker and buildings depend on type of infantry garnissoned in? I mean, if I have 5 guys with rockets and 5 guys with rifles, how they will attack targets.
Answer: It depends on what's garrisoned inside. Rockets guys fire rockets, and rifle guys fire bullets.

Question: Can the Chinook copter shoot?
Answer: No...it has no means of defense.

Question: How do pilots transfer their veterancy to a new unit?
Answer: You simply click on the pilot and place him in whatever vehicle you want. The veterancy he has attained will be automatically transfered.

Question: I'm going to assume that all buildings have different garrison maxs (correct me if I'm wrong, please) but what is the most untis you can have garrisoned inside a building.
Answer: That is incorrect. You can garrison up to 10 infantry inside any building that allows garrisoning, no matter the size. However, the size of the building does dictate the amount of damage it can take. So look for large buildings to garrison.

Question: Chinese bunkers hold 5 infantry, correct? Does the bunker upgrade for the overlord hold five, as well, or a smaller amount?
Answer: The buildable Chinese bunkers hold 5 infantry units, and the bunker upgrade for the Overlord tank holds the same amount.

Question: What type of units can go thru the GLA tunnel network? Technicals and tanks, or just infantry?
Answer: You can move up to 10 infantry units and vehicles (tanks, etc.) at one time through the GLA tunnel network. Works just like garrisoning a building. Select the units/vehicles, send them in the tunnel entrance, and evacuate them at any other tunnel you have constructed on the map. Fast and effecient way to move your troops around the map.

Question: I was wondering when you get the B-52 bomber can you only use it once in the entire game or will it recharge as the nuke and partical beam?
Answer: It will recharge just like any super weapon. You must have attained a 5-star Generals rating to use the Fuel-Air bomb the B-52 delivers.

Question: Does the gattling tank become more effective the longer it shoots like in Yuri's Revenge.
Answer: No...not like in RA2/YR, but you can purchase an upgrade for all gattling gun weapons that will give you a 25% increase in the rate of fire.

Question: How many experience points do you get per game?
Answer: You can get as many as you want. You accumulate experience points through battle against your opponent. The better you do, the more points ya get.

Question: Can you tell a unit to move somewhere on the map but instead of just moving the unit(s), they would attack any enemy unit or structure they come in contact with along the way.
Answer: Yes, there is a command you can give to your units to move to a certain location on the map, and have them engage in combat if they encounter enemy units along the way.

Question: Is the B-52 a unit you can buy still?
Answer: The USA's B-52 Bomber is the transport plane for the Fuel-Air Bomb, a devasting weapon that can decimate the enemy base. You get to use this once you have achieved 5-star General ranking. You don't actually build this plane. You select it for an airstrike at a designated target once it becomes available for use.

Question: I was wondering if the production of units from multiple buildings would be like the traditional Command and Conquer or would you be able to make many different units at once from different building like in starcraft?
Answer: You can build multiple buildings and build different units/vehicles from each building. In other words, you can crank out tanks on one and Humvees on another at the same time. Multiple buildings of the same kind will also increase the build speed.

Question: Hi Lion...What is your favorite 5 Star ability and superweapon?
Answer: That would have to be the Fuel Air Explosive delivered by a B52 Bomber for the USA side....it's devastation at its best! My fav superweapon right now is China's Nuke...I like the USA Particle Cannon, but it's not as powerful as the Nuke. But the developers are making changes to the Particle Cannon, so it should improve somewhat.

Question: Can you place Rocket men inside Humvees, and if so, what do ya get.
Answer: Yes you can. You may place up to 5 infantry units inside a Humvee. Five Rocket guys will give you devastion on wheels! Use a group of them for hit n run tactics.
