"After
years of releasing 2D sequels to the original C&C game,
Westwood/EA Pacific has finally broken away from this worrying
trend by developing a full-blown 3D RTS, which to my mind
represents the one true continuation, and most importantly,
evolution of the Command & Conquers series. But it's not
just the graphics; there's more to Generals than that. Much
more. It seems as though the programmers have poured in all
their creative talent to develop a game that features the most
diverse and well-balanced strategy gameplay on the market."

"The
Sage graphics engine has done EA Pacific proud, not just giving
the Command and Conquer series a much needed facelift, but also
converting the strategy series to full 3d. The camera can be
rotated and zoomed freely, and buildings can also be rotated
before they are placed. Realtime shadows, billowing smoke,
swaying trees, and dynamic lighting feed the eyes nonstop."

"Command
and Conquer: Generals sets the bar for more real-world strategy
games. With its varied arsenal, customizable play and gorgeous
looks, Command and Conquer: Generals is the ultimate real-time
war game and one not to be missed."

"This
is a damn fine RTS. While it does require a pretty hefty rig to
run, it's got all the gameplay right where it needs to be. This
is a fantastic extension of the Command & Conquer series and
should be snatched up by its fans. It's hard to say anything
really bad about it. I've had a great time playing this game
over the last week and look forward to some well fought
multiplayer battles."

"Overall,
Generals represents one of the best RTS games I’ve played to
date since the original hit several years ago. It has the
uncanny ability to present three equally-balanced sides all of
which are fun to play and present almost limitless possibilities
that’ll keep you glued-in for hours on end – perhaps weeks
as it did with me during the beta. While some may find a total
of 21 single-player missions on the short side of things, the
multiplayer should more than make up for it, and there’s no
doubting that all the missions place you in the best RTS game to
have hit in quite some time."
