During this time, the forums will be closed so we don't lose any important data. I will keep you updated of the progress.

(thanks Derek) Here's a snip from the official announcement.
Redwood Shores, Calif. June 11, 2007 Electronic Arts Inc. NASDAQ: ERTS today announced a commitment to bring its portfolio of hit games to Mac OS X. The first EA Mac titles slated to ship this summer include the wizarding adventure Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, racing sensation Need for Speed Carbon, military action thriller Battlefield 2142 and the real-time strategy hit Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. Being the first Mac OS X games published by EA, these blockbuster titles are being ported to take advantage of the Mac’s performance to run with stunning visuals and signature gameplay at blistering speeds. Later this year, EA will ship Madden NFL 08 and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 in sync with their worldwide launches.

Frank Gibeau, EA's Executive Vice President of Publishing commented, "These four games are just the beginning. We're excited to deliver key EA franchises such as Harry Potter, Madden Football and Need for Speed to Mac gamers."
Read the full announcement HERE.

APOC On Vacation

The following statement was issue by our online community manager APOC.
Hey guys,

I wanted to let you all know that I am taking some long awaited time off, just two weeks, starting today. It's been a long epic adventure since the last time I took a vacation, and at this point, its definitely needed. I'll be back re-energized and refreshed to continue strengthening and growing the C&C community and showing our continued support.

Producer Greg Kasavin, Amer Ajami, and maybe even Jimtern and EA Smudge will be filling my shoes on the message boards while I am gone. MichaelBrobst and Cypher will be moderating as usual, so please show them your respect in my absence :o)

All the pertinent top issues of patch 1.05 are being discussed on our development team including the Mastermind/Mothership strategy that seems to be the top issue. We're completely aware. As usual, its imperative that you take time getting used to the patch and really explore all the new strategic avenues it has opened up. We've only been live for 3 days, so be sure you're playing a lot!

Some quick notes on concerns on your mind I am sure:

-I will still be on the boards a bit until this Wednesday for critical matters and to help with whatever I can from outside the office. After Wednesday, I will return from my mission on June 25th.

-There will be a ladder reset as promised, however, we are discussing what stats should be reset and want to ensure its done right. Our popular thinking is to reset your ladder ranking and ladder stats, but not touch your overall stats. In the end, we feel the community cares most about the public appearance of your ladder ranking and stats. Do not worry, we will communicate this to you asap. With regards to the beginning of our ladder season, we are currently scoping this out with prizes and sponsors and rules and will keep you posted on the official start date.

-We have partnered with the GGL and The Army for a major C&C 3 online tournament with thousands of dollars in cash prizes. Registration will be happening on or around June 14th. Stay tuned to our official site or www.ggl.com for more info. And don't forget, you still have time to qualify for the World Cyber Games. Head over to their site at www. worldcybergames.com for more info.

-Patch 1.06 could potentially be a quick patch turnaround, its intended to continue improving disconnect reporting so we can accurately suspend disconnecting violators. We will have more info about that very soon so you're aware of our upcoming patch plans. We are also under a watchful eye for cheaters and will do our best to accurately suspend and disable accounts as needed for those caught repeatedly cheating.

-Will determine the C&C "show yourself" contest before I leave

Thanks again everyone for your continued support and as Producer Greg said, ensuring we are patching C&C 3 to the highest standards of the communities desires. It'll be tough being away for two weeks from my second family :o)...but this APOC will be re- energized and fired up like never before when I return.
I'm quite sure APOC has earned some time off.

Patch 1.05 C&C3 Producer Interview

On the official C&C3 Website there is a 'producer interview' posted up. Here's a snip:
Question: How important was it to add in "classic" alternate mouse setup for the community?

Answer: It was the first additional feature we knew we were going to include in this update. We owed it to diehard fans of the series. While the standard control scheme should still be best for most players, longtime fans of the series should get a little dose of nostalgia from the left-click control scheme . In fact, in some types of combat situations, it's better to use than the standard control scheme.

Question: Before patch 1.05, the game had a strong focus on rushing and tank-spamming, how do you think patch 1.05 will change this?

Answer: Command & Conquer invented the concept of the tank rush, and it's a popular tactic partly because it's a fairly obvious and viscerally exciting. So we're not morally opposed to tank rushes, though we don't want them to dominate the game, either. After patch 1.05, massed tanks will still be plenty powerful--they'll just be a little easier to counter, and they won't be quite as effective or versatile as a mixed force. As mentioned before, we really didn't do much to the game's mainline tanks. However, we did a lot of balancing around these guys, making many of the lesser-used units more effective in their intended roles.
Full producer interview can be read HERE.

C&C3 V1.05 Securom Error #7001 Fix

(Thanks Ant) Those of you who are having problems with the Securom error #7001 that has to do with copy protection, the SecuROM Support Team has issued the following fix.
From SecuROM Support Team
Issued June 8, 2007

Please open the registry editor (Start->Run->regedit) and move to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMMountedDevices key.

Please delete all REG_BINARY entries of this key (all blue ones on the right side). Afterwards reboot the machine and then the game should work again.
NOTE: Remember to make backups (registry) before trying this registry tip!

I don't personally have this problem, so I have no way of verifying if that fix actually works, but that fix has worked for some people. According to APOC, simply rebooting your computer can fix the problem for some peeps as well. But if all else fails, then try the above fix. It is from the SecuROM Support Team.

NOTE: I do not support illegal means to get a game to work, but some peeps are using a No CD crack, and it fixes the Securom problem for them. You can try THIS LINK, but you did not get it from me. Hey, whatever works for ya, just do it. But do try that Securom fix first.

C&C3 Patch First Impressions?

I'll go first...I haven't played with the new patch online yet, but did try out a skirmish game using GDI. If anything, the new patch made the infantry units worth building now. Place your tanks in front with rockets peeps behind them. Makes for an awesome team. Those infantry foxholes build nice n fast now. Helps to set up a very quick defense for your base area.

I'm happy with what I've seen so far, and I DO love the left click. I'll have to go back and replay the single player missions. This patch gives the game new life and a new feel. And did I mention the left click? Those of ya who have the patch, please chime in with your thoughts about it.
